Bore Siting - How We Do ItFor bore siting we use the ABEM-LUND resistivity profiling system.
A switchbox starts switching between pairs of electrodes and a current source pumps current into the ground. The electric potential between pairs of electrodes is measured. Each measurement gives information about one point underground, and thousands of these measurements together give the resistivity structure of a 400 m long, 60 m deep section of the ground.
From this resistivity structure we interpret the geological structure of the ground - locate major faults, fracture zones, geological boundaries as well as the water-bearing zones.
Thus we can determine the prime location for a water bore.
